STELARC is
an Australian-based performance artist whose work explores
and extends the concept of the body and its relationship

medical imaging, prosthetics, robotics, VR systems and
the Internet. The interest is in alternate, intimate
and involuntary experiences.

Fragment
of a web site description from "Il sarto immortale" (the
immortal tailor):
"The
idea behind this project is connected to the production
of the first "suit of skin" made of material
printed with images of the naked skin of the artist's
body. The design of additional pieces of clothing (jacket,
blouse, T-shirt, skirt, etc.) is planned, and a fashion
collection should be developed in which the covering
with two-dimensional pictures of the body and the three-dimensional
form of the clothing call forth a kind of fragmented
overall picture of the body."

A good, fairly comprehensive effort. Harvey has
done a lot for guerilla nudity and, like Spencer
Tucick, has steered clear away from nude in public
as fetish or voyeurism. A few pictures do not
hold up in terms of exposure and resolution,
still worth a good look. |

Jock
Sturges
This
is one of the more popular photographers working
in context of naturist photography. Several books
are available. Absent-minded authorities in the
USA tried to shut him down by labeling his images
pornographic when in fact they were not shot
in any sexual context whatsoever. Jock has been
cleared of these accusations but the harassment
was truly annoying.

A good effort. A bit timid in covering the body freedom
aspect of the event. Some of the photographs are quite
good but others don't seem to quite hold up too well
in terms of focus and exposure. The video is mainly the
same photographs in the book set to music with very little
video footage. Some of the better videos by other groups
have shown more of the personality and featured more
interviews than this piece.
